Oklahoma Proclaims April 1st-7th Aerospace Week: Celebrating Innovation, Collaboration, and Boundless Opportunities Taking Flight

"Oklahoma Proclaims April 1st-7th as Aerospace Week: Celebrating Innovation, Collaboration, and Boundless Opportunities in Flight Technology"

In a historic proclamation issued on February 29th, Governor J. Kevin Stitt officially designated April 1st-7th as Aerospace Week in the State of Oklahoma. This proclamation comes as a recognition of Oklahoma's rich aerospace heritage, dating back over a century, and aims to break new ground in the state's aerospace industry.

Oklahoma's legacy of aerospace innovation is steeped in history, with pioneers like Wiley Post paving the way for high-altitude, long-distance flight exploration within our state. Today, the aerospace and defense industry stands as Oklahoma's second-largest and fastest-growing sector, contributing significantly to the state's economic prosperity.

With over 206,000 jobs and $44 billion in annual economic activity attributed to the aerospace and defense industry, Oklahoma boasts a robust ecosystem of over 1,100 companies. These companies, particularly those dedicated to aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), form the backbone of Oklahoma's aerospace prowess.

Aerospace Week, brought to you by the OKC Innovation District in collaboration with the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics, promises a dynamic lineup of events for all ages; from industry symposiums to Aviation, Aerospace & Defense Awareness Day, and a vibrant community event at Scissortail Park's Wind & Kite Festival. This week-long celebration aims to raise awareness and showcase the significance of Oklahoma's aerospace sector. Join us as we embark on a journey of innovation, collaboration, and limitless possibilities in the skies above.
