Innovation Week 2025 Brings STEAM Careers to Life for Oklahoma City Students
Three days of hands-on STEAM learning return October 7–9
Oklahoma City, OK – From October 7 to 9, the Oklahoma City Innovation District will welcome more than 1,500 middle school students for Innovation Week 2025, a transformative three-day event that puts science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) directly into the hands of young learners at the Science Museum Oklahoma.
For many of these students, 92 percent of whom come from economically disadvantaged households, Innovation Week is more than a school trip. It is a chance to step into the shoes of scientists, engineers, artists, and problem solvers shaping Oklahoma’s future. It is also a moment of discovery, where students learn that careers in these industries are not only possible but attainable. Innovation Week offers fun and exploration, but the numbers show that the impact of these three days lasts a lifetime. One student from last year said it best: “I think that this event was absolutely awesome, words can’t describe how excited I am! I loved it so much.”
Impact by the Numbers
1,041 students participated in 2024, a 27 percent increase from the year before
83 percent of participants were of minority descent, showing the importance of access and opportunity
53 percent of participants were female, closing the gap in fields where women currently hold only one-third of STEM jobs nationwide
By hosting students from Oklahoma City Public Schools in Northeast Oklahoma City, Innovation Week sparks curiosity and confidence while creating a vision for what is possible.
